ABOVE: Nils Dacke was completed with a series of three spaces on Deck 5 (the 'cabin deck') which broadly fall under the term 'lobby'. As well as the main reception area in the centre of the ship, there were a pair of spaces, along the centreline, where seven separate stairwells emerged from the lower decks - these are deemed to be stairwells 'A' to 'G' in order from forward to aft.
The plan above is of the aft half of Deck 5 showing forward (
far right) the aft two of the group of four ('A', 'B', 'C' and 'D') forward stairways, just ahead of the main (oval shaped) lobby area. Further astern, still on the centreline, are the three other stairways, being 'E', 'F' and 'G'.

The reasoning for these duplicate stairways, which all ultimately lead into pretty much the same space from a passenger point of view (the lower cabin spaces having passed the car decks on the way down) appears to be part of the safety features - watertight doors can split the lower cabin decks into much smaller compartments, from which there needed to be separate exit routes for passengers in each space
.
BELOW: Another view of the 'ABCD' stairways, looking dead ahead.
BELOW: Moving aft, the main lobby is found, although it is effectively divided in the middle by an unfortunately located large pillar/wall.
In the port half, facing forward centrally can be found the main information and reception desk. A small bureau de change facility is adjacent, on the outside of the lobby whilst on the forward port side is a small kiosque. On the starboard side, in the equivalent location to the kiosque is a boutique selling perfumes. A pursers office is located in the starboard side space equivalent to the reception desk.
(Left) Looking aft on the Quiberon in 2002, this is the starboard half of the main lobby - The sign advertising 'La Vitrine' is an advertisment for this shop on the deck above. The passageway heading aft (centre) leads into the main cabin accommodation. The boutique can be seen to the left.
(Right) An equivalent view on the port side, again looking aft, with the main reception desk and change booth complete with typical Brittany Ferries neon signs.
BELOW: Two views of the 'ABCD' lobby in 2002 - looking forward (left) and aft (right).
The distinctive pillars which run along the centreline of the ship define the width of the stairwells.
BELOW: Further aft, amongst the main aft cabin accommodation is the 'EFG' lobby, complete with the Duchesse Anne painting (see also onboard artwork).
(Left)
Looking forward - the stairways leading up to left and right emerge into the aft lobby on Deck 6, adjacent to the self-service restaurant.
(Right)
A view looking aft.

ABOVE: Two views of the main lobby on the Giulia d'Abundo in September 2006 showing the starboard (above) and port (below) sections. Other than the replacement of the carpet and reupholstery of the chairs, the main change has been the removal of the former bureau de change booth from its position adjacent to the reception desk.
