ABOVE LEFT: The original layout of the quiet lounge included the standard dark wood-effect panelling, combined with some rather marvellous huge, brown swivel armchairs and small circular tables. ABOVE RIGHT: Brittany Ferries' early conversion (early/mid-1980s) produced an area of a rather different character. Described as "our restful lounge" in the brochure, the regimented seating and fixed, rectangular tables give the lounge something of a waiting room look rather than that of a place where passengers could relax and get away from the bustle of other areas on the long crossing to Santander. The chairs are typical of the design installed during this period in various parts of the ship. The large circular ceiling lights remain, now supplemented by large wall-mounted fittings next to the windows. The seagull picture makes a first appearance, although it is uncertain whether this was added by Brittany Ferries or was a Nils Dacke original (see also the onboard artwork page).
ABOVE: Two pictures of the same area in 2002. What had originally been one large space has now been split centrally into two smaller reclining seat lounges - these pictures show the one on the starboard-side, with seating facing aft. The seagulls have survived the conversion, but have been repositioned to the starboard side wall. The original large light fixtures on the ceiling have made space for more discreet lighting better suited to the lounge's primary function, although the wall-mounted fitting added later has survived.
Located aft of the self service restaurant on Quiberon in her final Brittany Ferries guise were a pair of small reclining seat lounges. The original configuration of this space appears to have been as the ship's old 'quiet lounge' - originally the two rooms were one larger space, with large aft-facing windows peering out onto the small deck area at the stern of Deck 6.
