| Delivered from the Malta Shipbuilding Co in 2000, the Gozo Channel Company's Ta'Pinu was the lead vessel in a three-ship fleet rebuilding scheme which saw the older second-hand ships which had operated for the company since 1979 being mostly phased-out. The ship is named after the Basilica of Ta'Pinu, the famous place of pilgrimmage for Maltese and Gozitans which, it is claimed, has been the scene of innumerable miracles and acts of grace. |
