The Surface Effect Ship Santa Eleonora operates for Italian Ferries (Misano Alta Velocita Lines) on their daily passenger-only services linking Paxos, Corfu and Brindisi on the Italian mainland. Completed by the Norwegin yard of Eikefjord Marine in 1992, the ship has been operating ever since on this route. Although the fares are considerably more expensive than those of the more conventional ferries, the company appears to attract sufficient summer traffic to justify the continued operation of the vessel, which was largely unique in this sphere of ferry travelling until Ventouris Ferries attempted their Thundercat services in 2001.
