Built in 1970 as the Ferry Gold for Japanese interests,  the current Milena is a sister of GA's Daliana. The ship came to Greece in 1988, although not directly into the hands of GA Ferries, her first Greek owners being Ventouris Ferries, where the ship first gained her current name. Ventouris did not hold onto the ship for long however and she passed quickly to GA Ferries before the year was out and underwent a major conversion in Perama similar to that of her sister. At the time, the standards offerred on this pair of vessels was a great advance over previous ships and, in typical GA fashion, they have been well maintained ever since.

BELOW: Milena at Pireaus. The ship apparently now has a capacity for as many as 2,300 people, although this would seem likely to be fully required only rarely. Her current schedule is usually the long, arduous trek amongst the Sporades and Cyclades starting as far north as Thessalonika and ending up all the way down at Heraklion in Greece.
