Above: After her repurchase by Ventouris in 2004, the The Agios Georgios had a fairly substantial renovation and on our crossing was in immaculate condition throughout - here the Belsky mural on the forward stairwell is seen from Boat Deck level.

Above: Seen from the departing Agios Georgios is the Express Adonis (ex-Ailsa Princess). Unwanted by her owners, the ship was laid up, still in the old Hellas Ferries livery, in the outer harbour of Piraeus for the entire 2005 Summer season.

Above: Ship Number 15: The Express Aphrodite (ex-St Columba) seen at Piraeus on the morning of July 19. The ship spent the Summer competing directly with the Agios Georgios: departing most mornings within ten minutes of each other, they would race down the islands to Sifnos, Serifos and Milos before turning around and racing each other back. Despite the competition, the older, smaller Ventouris ship did not appear to be losing out in terms of speed or market share.

Above: Onboard, the Express Aphrodite is entirely unchanged from her days as Stena Hibernia. This is the aft lounge, the Irish Bar in the Stena days.

Above: The morning of July 20 was spent touring round the lay-up berths and shipyards around Piraeus, with Nikos Thrylos kindly acting as guide and, on occasion, translator. Seen here in long-term lay-up, the Atlantis was once DFDS' Stafford.

Above: Paired together in lay-up at Elefsis on 20 July are long-term resident the Byblos (ex-Black Watch/Jupiter) and, beyond, the Egnatia III (ex-Stena Scandinavica) of HML, which last saw service under charter to Algeria Ferries in 2004.
